8th Annual Valentines Day Concert

Celebrate Valentine’s day at the First Parish in Bedford, MA with the perfect pairing of popular and classical music followed by an elegant “chocolate reception. The concert, ”You Don’t Have to Know the Language,” features vocalists Ben Sears and Cynthia Mork, with pianist Brad Conner and cellist Nathan Kimball.  The quartet will be performing songs including “A Foggy Day in London Town”, “Three Coins in a Fountain”, “Slow Boat to China”, “Brazil” and more.  Also joining is esteemed pianist Leslie Amper performing music from around the world, including compositions by Debussy in honor of the centenary of the composer’s death.

The Gallery @ First Parish Exhibit

Currently the Gallery@First Parish is featuring the art works of Will Hatley and Luana Read.   Will Hatley works at the Edith Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital helping veterans with employment.  His work features bright colors in his use of colored pencils.   Luana Read portraits are stunning as well as her landscapes.  The show will be up until February 28th.

Bedford Lyceum : Apollo Project

The Bedford  Lyceum presentation this Sunday will be "The Apollo Project" featuring Ron Cordes, Rich Daugherty and Steve Hagan who worked on the project.  Between 1968 and 1972, NASA successfully sent 24 men where no human beings had been before. The final mission, Apollo 17, flew in December 1972 and closed the final chapter in NASA's triumphant Apollo Program.    Reminder: We are meeting in Room 202 from 9:00 to 9:50.

How Did The Bedford Citizen Get It’s Start?

Five years ago three Bedford women decided to stop dreaming about an online local newspaper and to just did it. The Bedford Citizen immediately found an audience  and the hunger for more local news was affirmed. In the first months as excitement  and expectations rose, they often felt they had a  tiger by the tail. Since then the Citizen has become, a 501c3 nonprofit, developed a governance model that works and begun to pay some staff. Now they are looking at how to sustain their newspaper in years to come.  As always the Citizen looks to Bedford citizens for input.
